Monster Sport facebook page recently posted some picture of their Ignis S1600 for member viewing pleasure. I am very excited that this photo is very rare and it does give some insight on the details in their competition car.
From the above picture you could see that this is the 3 door version of the Ignis Super 1600 that are being used during the early days of Suzuki involvement in JWRC. Later this model were replaced with the 5 door hungarian version with a longer wheelbase but with the same engine.
I not sure why they choose the 5 door version compare to the 3 door version but the 5 door version actually gives better result during competition those days.
Now comes to the engine, its a 1.5l engine which was upgraded to 1.6l with a 9000rpm limit. The feature that was interesting to spot is the design of the intake manifold. The length of the manifold was increase with a special design carbon intake box.
The interior is a standard Ignis Sport interior but is non JDM version. Monster sport actually strip everything and install a Motec CSL3 display and sparco seat together with a Motec engine management unit (M4). This car installed with a 6 speed sequential gearbox same as those used i the Suzuki Hayabusa.
I wonder do they sell this ? I am very interested in the engine, gearbox and ECU.
