Cooper S, a tough nut to crack!

Its been a busy night as I was rushing home after watching stand up comedy at PJ and in my way home I met up with a Cooper S at my tail. I didn't notice when it started to tailgate me but it does bring back memories.
I used to drive during midnight around the town along all the highway to look for speedster for some fun many years ago, I stop doing that as I was too tired after work and the passion just died that way.
It is normal that I get tailgate from time to time, not only by Mini but many other car but I do wanted to try to check the differences in speed between both of us.

The result that I can feel and see during a good 3 km of high speed run are that Cooper S are really nimble and it perform really well in changing lane and squeeze between traffics. Acceleration are great while the low body mean less body roll in corners. (Minimum speed are around 80 and maximum are 140 within that stretch)
HT81S does loose out on all of the above, I can only get near the Cooper S after a long high rev but the power are not enough to overtake. However I do notice during the mid range speed, the differences in acceleration are not that great which means Cooper S doesn't really take off and leave you behind and this give you a chance to follow and have some fun with it.
If you have the guts, you can try to out brake a Cooper S, I think it is possible as HT81S is much lighter and it could bring some chance in the corner.
In conclusion, I think HT81S need a bigger engine, a M18 should be able to match the performance of Cooper S. The high body could be compensated with a better suspension. I think I need to get all this done up before calling my friend (who own a Cooper S) for a friendly touge battle.
