Recently I'm in a dilemma on choosing the replacement tyres for my car. The original rims and tyres serves me well even thou I had bought the car after quite sometime sitting in the warehouse. But tyres is a wear and tear parts and I need replacement for the tyres soon. I had changed to Goodyear NCT5, but this model doesnt perform well, not so good grip but the price is cheap.

I had been thinking of getting an upsize rims of 16" so I can fit a 195/45/16 that doesn't have much different in wheel size, then it wont affect my speedometer reading. I'm interested in the Speedline 16" or RAYS 16" rims which almost identical to the original. The thinking of upsizing is to give a better appearance on the exterior plus to solve my problem in getting my desire brand of tyres. I had a lot of difficulties getting the tyre for size 185/55/15.
I got options to only 5 brands, Goodyear NCT5, Continental Sport Contact, Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 (PP2), Bridgestone Potenza Re080 and Toyo T1R.
I had try Goodyear and Michelin both is ok and price reasonable. Goodyear and Continental is made in Malaysia. Michelin and Bridgestone is made in Thailand, something I dont like. I much prefer made in malaysia rubber (tyres). Toyo is from Japan but the price is very steep, I still hunting for the best price I can get for this tyre. I also read about it soft side wall for Toyo T1R, not sure how it affect handling, gotta buy one set and kick some redline then I can comment back.

I had found a website with an applet to calculate the size of upsizing and downsizing your rims and wheels. It will show the comparison and details, a good thing to help.
